Thursday Doubles
We host Thursday Random Draw Doubles tournaments at Oregon Park every week year 'round. There is no need to bring a partner since we use a random-draw format, but you're welcome to bring your friends! Buy in at 3 levels: $5, $10, or $15. The first $5 is basic action ($4 to payout and $1 to the club), the optional second $5 is entry for 4 CTPs and the ace fund ($1 each), and the last optional $5 goes to a separate winner-take-all pot. There is NO ace fund cap and NO strokes will be given on Thursdays.
During DST, play starts on Thursday evenings at 6:00pm. Make sure to be there by 5:45pm to sign in so we can start on time! Starting in November after our annual Glow Tournament, through February, the format changes to night-time "glow doubles," and the starting time changes to 7:00pm. The tournament director will have disc beacons available that you can buy if you don't have your own. If you plan to attend either format, be sure to arrive at least 15 minutes before the start of play to draw for your partner.
If you have any questions please email Nick Richardson, our Tournament Director. transform.nbr@gmail.com

Seasonal Tournaments
2011
5th Annual Ace Race at Oregon Park
Saturday September 17th, 2011
Our 4th Annual Oregon Park Ice Bowl charity tournament was held on February 19th. We donated proceeds of over $900 from this event plus canned goods to MUST Ministries.
Our 4th Annual Friends of Oregon Park fundraiser tournament was held on August 13th. 35 players competed in three divisions, and the silent auction was again successful this year. We raised a good sum of money to pay for planned concrete tee pad installations at Oregon Park. As of the date of the tournament, only five holes have one or two concrete pads, with the remaining pads waiting to be improved.
2010
Our 4th Annual Ace Race was held on Saturday, September 18, 2010. We had over 90 participants this year! This is by far the largest turnout we've yet had for an event at Oregon Park. Thanks to everyone for coming and making our Ace Race such a big success. We'll soon be posting the full registrant list and the names of the winners on our tournament page at The Disc Golf Scene. For now, have fun with the couple of videos we've already posted to Youtube:
Our 3rd Annual Friends of the Park fundraiser tournament was held on Saturday, May 15, 2010. This event helped us begin raising money for the course improvements you have seen over the past year.
Our 3rd Annual Oregon Park Ice Bowl charity tournament was held on Saturday, February 20, 2010. We enjoyed balmy 60-degree February weather, but we promise it snowed last week! No really, there was a little snow left over in the fairway the temporary hole we set up. No, we really can't explain how the weather went from low-30's and several inches of snow to bright, sunny, and 60 degrees in only a week. We played two rounds of disc golf (with fundraising mulligans aplenty) to 19 baskets, with a break of Johnny's Pizza for lunch. This year we raised $1200 for Children's Healthcare of Atlanta!
2009
The 4th Annual Glow Tournament at Oregon Park was held on Friday, November 13, 2009. From now until the start of Daylight Savings time in March, our weekly Thursday doubles event has converted to Thursday Night Glow Doubles. During the glow season, our TD will have led lights available to attach to your discs, but you may want to stop by Disc Caddie Golf on the Marietta Square, or your favorite disc golf retailer, to pick up a couple of them. You should also bring some tape (electrical tape works well) to hold the lights on your discs. See below for more details.
Our 3rd Annual Ace Race at Oregon Park was held on October 3, 2009, and we couldn't have been blessed with more beautiful weather. Our numbers were busting at the seams, and we appreciate everyone's willingness to share Ace Race discs with each other so we could all play. We really were surprised at the attendance, but it was great to see so many players there. Mike Urbaniak won first place with 2 aces and 5 metal hits. Angel Eldridge scored first in the women's division and second overall, with 2 aces and 3 metal hits. Team Nick won the prize for the best combined score, with 6 aces and several metal hits. Everyone please make sure to thank our sponsors, especially Discraft, who provided the players' packs and first-place prizes, Bob from Disc Caddie Golf, who provided the raffle prizes, and Johnny's Pizza, who helped us fill our bellies with a delicious lunch. We'd also like to thank those who decorated and donated the 8 discs that were awarded to the 8-player team that tallied the most aces. Finally, we'd love to thank everyone who made a direct donation to the club. Your donations will be used to purchase new baskets and lay out new holes in the new space that Cobb County has recently alloted for disc golf.
Our Second Annual "Friends of the Park" fundraiser tournament was in April, 2009. We played 2 singles rounds on a course that was expanded to 20+ holes, including the 9 original holes and several unique holes played to temporary portable baskets. After the tournament the club gave out prizes to raffle winners, held the traditional "Ring of Fire" putting competition, and staged a long-driving competition. We want to extend special thanks to our good friends at Disc Caddie Golf, to Johnny's Pizza (good Pies), to John Inman (video games), to Bill Renaud (IHOP), and to Joe Johson (AP Specialty Metals), for making this tournament such a success. The proceeds helped us purchase enough baskets to round out the full 18-hole layout. With the County's permission, we installed them shortly after the tournament.
Our Second Annual Ice Bowl charity tournament was in February, 2009. We played 2 singles rounds on a course that was expanded to 20+ holes, including the 9 original holes and several unique holes played to temporary portable baskets. Our Ice Bowl raised $800 to benefit two local children's charities.
Club Meetings
Our club holds members' meetings throughout the year. In 2011, our Annual Meeting was held in January. We elected officers to serve on our board of directors as well as chairmen for the club's standing committees, and ratified a set of new club bylaws to take effect immediately. We also held a regular members' meeting in May. Our next regular members' meeting is scheduled for September 10. We will have another Annual Meeting on December 3rd to elect officers for the 2012 season.
The club's board of directors also holds occasional meetings that all members of the club are welcome to audit. The various club committees also hold meetings as necessary to plan and work on their committee projects. If you are a member of the club and want to join a committee, ask the committee chairman if you can help.
