Ringing the Chains since 2007

Welcome to the Cobb Disc Golf Club's website!
We are here to promote the sport of disc golf and provide a fun environment for all levels of play.
Check out the website and feel free to send us a question or find us on Tuesday & Thursday nights at Oregon Park.

The Discraft Ace Race is returning to Oregon Park!

Our 4th Annual Ace Race is scheduled for Saturday, September 18, 2010.

Registration for the Ace Race is $25, and includes two Discraft prototype discs that you will receive the day of the event. We urge you to preregister ASAP if you know you're planning to attend, so we can get good idea of how many discs we'll need to preorder for the event.  Last year we had a larger turnout than we expected, and could only give one disc each to some of the later walk-up registrants. Everybody ended up having lots of fun anyway, but we want everybody to go home with two discs this year. Click the Paypal "Buy Now" button below to register online!

Sign me up for the 2010 Ace Race!

If you don't use Paypal, you can also preregister in person at our Tuesday or Thursday Doubles events, or at our First Saturday Singles event on September 4th.

Announcements for Upcoming Events

See the Club Events page for more details.

August 26, September 2, etc.: Thursday Night Doubles starts at 6:00pm SHARP, so be there by 5:45 to make sure we can start on time. Entry is $12 for a random draw, so there is no need to bring a partner. Since the baseball season has officially started at Oregon Park, plan to park at Swing Time and meet up there, so we don't have to compete with the baseball families for parking. If you don't see us at the Swing Time parking lot, check the front pavilion or the steps by hole #1, just to be sure.

August 24, 31, etc.: Two Dollar Tuesday is a weekly random-draw doubles event at Oregon Park that is geared towards the less advanced players. Play is open to all skill levels and all ages, and any advanced players who come will be paired with a beginner. Two Dollar Tuesday teams won't be playing for cash prizes, but your $2 entry fee will go towards prizes like discs, tee shirts, and occasionally larger prizes, to reward the weekly winners. This will give you a chance to play your way into new plastic or new disc golf schwag for $2 at a time!  There will be no "ace fund," but there will be prizes awarded for aces. There will also be one CTP hole (Closest To Pin with your tee shot) each week with a prize. So if you like the idea of our weekly doubles events, but you don't want to spend $12 for entry, or you aren't yet advanced enough to compete with the folks on Thursday nights, this event is for you.   The TD makes sure it's fair and fun for all.  Start time is at 6pm, so be there by 5:45 to make sure we can start on time.

September 4: First Saturday Singles is scheduled for September 4.  Entry is $12, and play will start at 12:00pm.  Plan to show up at least 15 minutes in advance to sign up.

September 12: Second Sunday Doubles is scheduled for September 12.  This is "random draw" doubles, just like our Thursday Night Doubles, only it's on the weekend during the daytime.  Entry is $12, and play will start at 1:00pm.  Plan to show up at least 15 minutes in advance to sign up.

The ADGO has graciously decided to host their Fall Event at Oregon Park, as a fundraiser for the course development! Visit the ADGO website for more information about this event, to be scheduled in November.

Check out the Cobb Disc Golf Club Online Store!

It took me an embarassingly long time to realize how easy it is to set up a paypal shopping cart, but when the light came on I saw no reason to delay.  We've got several things for sale on the page, including tee shirts and reusable laminated scorecards.  Our new 2010 minis have also arrived and are on sale, as well as our custom screen-printed club tee shirts.  The store isn't very fancy yet, since we're still working out the fiddly bits like pictures of the merchandise and exactly how we want to configure the paypal buttons for a couple of things, but it's now online and working, so feel free to go ahead and start shopping!

Notes from our January 9, 2010 members' meeting: Our Winter quarter members' meeting was held in the community room at Cobb County Fire station #13 on January 9.  During this meeting we held an election for our 2010 Board of Directors, and we have added several new offices to the board.  At the end of the meeting, we began discussion of our future plans and options for expanding the course at Oregon Park, as well as possibly rearranging the back 9 in the current layout.  These discussions are ongoing, and we are doing our best to coordinate our plans with the park's plans to lay out a new parking lot on and road access to the new Bullard-Stockton property.  The new parking lot and roads will be directly adjacent to the disc golf course, and will give us and other park users a much needed increase in available parking.  Our club meetings are your best opportunity to get involved with all this progress.  If you're not a member but want to be able to attend our next members' meeting, you can join online from this website from the "Membership" page.  For more information about our election, visit the Board of Directors page.  For more informaton about the expansion and development of Oregon Park, visit the Oregon Park Expansion page.

Notes from our December 11, 2009 members' meeting:  Our Fall quarter members' meeting was held in the community room at Cobb County Fire station #13 on December 11.  We discussed the upcoming elections for our 2010 Board of Directors, and we're planning to add several new offices to the board.  If you have any interest at all in serving on the board, please use the "Contact Us" form on this website, or contact a current board member by phone or email to get your name on the ballot.  We'd like to see competition for as many offices as we can get.  Elections will be held at 5:00pm on Saturday, January 9, at Fire Station #13 on Dallas Highway.  Make time in your calendar so you can make sure your voice is heard.  At the end of the members' meeting, we began discussion of our future plans and options for expanding the course at Oregon Park, as well as possibly rearranging the back 9 in our current layout to make better use of the space available.  Our club meetings are your best opportunity to get involved with all this progress.  If you're not a member but want to be able to vote in our elections or attend our next members' meeting, you can join online from this website from the "Membership" page.

Notes from our August 2009 members' meeting:  The North Georgia Disc Golf Club had a Summer quarter members' meeting in August 2009.  In this meeting the main agenda was to decide whether our organization was going to change its name. When the North Georgia Disc Golf Club organized we had designs of being involved in a broader area and scope. This has not worked out; however, we have become very successful in the work we have been doing at Oregon Park, and in our relationship with Cobb County. In an effort to clarify our role in the community, the club has unanimously voted to change its name to Cobb Disc Golf Club (C.D.G.C.). As the Cobb Disc Golf Club, we will be focusing all our efforts on Oregon Park and the Pitner Road property, and with Cobb County Parks and Recreations exclusively. Until our board completes all the paperwork and finds the time to wade through the legal requirements for reincorporation under our new name, we will keep our nonprofit incorporation as the "North Georgia Disc Golf Club," doing business as the Cobb Disc Golf Club.

Thanks to all those who have made this organization a success in the past and to all of us who are moving forward with the expansion of Disc Golf in Cobb County.

And as always... Throw it so it goes Innnnn the Basket!

The C.D.G.C. Board
