Here are some photos from the events of years gone by. Enjoy!
Action shots from the 2008 Oregon Park Ace Race
September, 2007: Installing the concrete pads on Hole #1, as Wayne describes it:
"Whooo hooo here it is folks… Concrete pads at Oregon Park, and they said it could not be done. There have been a lot of people that contributed to making this happen, but I would say that the main man to attribute this step in progress is Jason Hughes President of the North Georgia Disc Golf Club(NGDGC). Major props also go out to our vice President Mark Cannon, Jason’s wife Melanie, and all the others that have helped both in their sweat, participation in NGDGC activities and donations that made this possible. Also special thanks go out to Cobb County for trusting us to be a betterment to the parks in Cobb, we at the NGDGC hope to better cultivate good relations with the county and public of Cobb so as to improve both Disc Golf for the golfers and cooperation with those of the county that have not yet discovered what a great sport Disc Golf is for those of any age race or gender. God Bless and see you at the park."
"The New Concrete has dried and its time to play some golf. A few of us gathered to commemorate the new concrete pads with a ribbon cutting ceremony and a bag tag challenge.
The Honors of cutting went to Melanie Hughes (our Treasure). Granted the Ribbon was caution tape and we ended up with this little itty bitty pair of scissors, but it served its purpose and we have officially opened the pads to the public. But before we handed them off to the rabble we had to get in some commemorative throws.
Special thanks to all those that rushed to defend Jennifer’s honor from the punk kid who flipped her off. People like that give disc golfers a bad name and create a bad impression to others in the park. I am glad that we have been party to improving those impressions with the county and with the park. If we keep it up things will only get better.
A funny note from the round: Will aka Chilly (or C Hilly) (#1 bag tag holder) made a very funny comment about someone’s almost good throw. “That would have been in if it had been thrown from a concrete pad”. We all found this very funny and with Will it got even funnier every time he said it."
Photos from the Disc Museum in Augusta, GA
In 2007, our club was invited to the Disc Golf World Headquarters in Augusta, GA, for a work day. While there, members had the opportunity to visit the disc museum on site, and snapped photos of some historic discs.
